Empowering Women Living with HIV Through Sustainable Projects

December 16, 2024

Partner: Proyecto Vida, Guatemala

Proyecto Vida is driving sustainability initiatives by actively involving the Eco Granja Santa María in creating agricultural spaces such as gardens and family plots. These projects not only support household nutrition but also enable the commercialization of products to generate income and improve household economies.

The program has supported 565 women facing various forms of violence (physical, verbal, sexual, psychological, economic). Of these, 175 women have been assisted in developing family gardens, addressing challenges in family nutrition, and promoting economic resilience.

With technical guidance from the Eco Granja Santa María, these women have adopted secure models for growing organic family gardens, enhancing their livelihoods through consumption and sales of surplus produce.

In addition to agricultural projects, 75 families have expanded their efforts into poultry farming. By October 2024, these families will sell live and processed broiler chickens directly from their homes. This initiative provides affordable poultry to their neighbors, strengthening local economies and fostering community well-being.

Proyecto Vida continues to create impactful, sustainable opportunities for women and families, transforming lives and communities.
