Commemorating 70 Years of Rights and Struggle: The Empowerment of Honduran Women

April 14, 2025

Partner: SERSO Honduras

SERSO commemorated a historic milestone in Honduras—70 years since women gained the right to vote. This achievement went beyond politics; it became a symbol of recognition for the courage, capability, and contributions of women in all areas of society.

In coordination with the Women’s Network, the Municipal Office for Women, and various community groups, they honored the pioneers who paved the way and reaffirmed their commitment to building a more equitable Honduras.

This event was not only a space for remembrance but also a moment to celebrate the completion of key initiatives carried out with over 200 women from 32 community groups, including:

• Training and organizational strengthening
• Economic empowerment
• Health fairs and violence prevention
• Promotion of civic participation

Call to Action:
Through their legal and psychological support office, they promoted the active participation of women in political, social, and economic spaces—strengthening their autonomy and representation in decision-making.
