Partner: ASAPROSAR, El Salvador

The Community Health Alliances program is transforming the lives of rural women by delivering prevention of Non-transmissible chronic diseases directly to their communities, focusing on the Community Enterprise Development Program (PRODEC) beneficiaries.

Key Achievements of the Program:

  • Community Leadership Training: Trained 90 health advisors, 14 of whom have formed Collectives dedicated to detecting potential NCD cases and referring them to local health units.
  • Mobile Medical Services: Conducted 9 medical sessions via a mobile unit staffed with a general physician and a nurse, providing primary health care directly to the communities.
  • Youth Empowerment: Initiated training for 50 adolescents, children, or relatives of PRODEC clients on sexual and reproductive health, strengthening their personal planning skills.
  • Community Impact:
    • Conducted 541 NCD screenings, with 180 women receiving primary health care.
  • Institutional Collaboration: Provided technical assistance to 6 Ministry of Health promoters to enhance NCD detection in rural areas.

This initiative underscores ASAPROSAR’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of rural communities by promoting education and accessible health services, paving the way for a better quality of life.
