Inclusive Education on Wheels: Transforming Tzutujil Maya Communities

December 16, 2024

Partner: ADISA, Guatemala

ADISA has launched a transformative project in over 10 communities, providing educational support to children with learning challenges, both related and unrelated to disabilities, within Tzutujil Maya communities in Guatemala.

Using the Universal Design for Learning Model, the program adapts education to each child’s interests and diverse learning styles, incorporating art, play, and technology.

This initiative goes beyond inclusive education, proving that every child can reach their fullest potential with the right focus on capabilities and tools.

ADISA’s innovative approach includes a mobile unit that travels through these communities, delivering not just educational materials but also hope and opportunities.

One of the most inspiring aspects is hearing children say:
“We’ll play soccer, but we need to change the rules so Juanito, who’s in a wheelchair, can join us and participate like everyone else.”
