Marimba Academy Tzanjuyup: Preserving and Innovating Musical Culture in Guatemala

For the first time in this Guatemalan community, the Marimba Academy Tzanjuyup was inaugurated, creating a space that preserves Guatemala’s traditional music and fosters cultural innovation.

This academy provides high-quality musical education and has become a hub of pride and inspiration for the community, encouraging future musicians and solidifying cultural identity.

Key achievements of the academy include:

• Increased interest among youth in learning to play the marimba.
• Implement courses for teachers, equipping them as multipliers of various artistic expressions.
• Use of media platforms to promote and disseminate local music.

ADIT‘s most significant achievement was hosting the Artistic Festival after the marimba courses. This event featured performances from four musical groups, including musicians, community leaders, students, and teachers. The primary goal was to raise awareness within the community about the importance of recognizing, respecting, promoting, and strengthening musical expression across diverse spheres.

Milestone Achieved: The academy successfully engaged 42 young leaders, including children, youth, and adults.
