Partner: OYE, Honduras
This year, 11 young women achieved a life-changing milestone: becoming the first in their families to attend and graduate from university. This accomplishment reflects not only their determination and family support but also the commitment of the OYE Scholarship Program.
Among them is Jennifer, a young woman from rural El Progreso, where access to higher education often feels unattainable. In her community, attending university is uncommon, but Jennifer chose to rewrite her story.
At just 14 years old, with admirable courage, she left her home and moved to the city, relying on the support of close relatives for her education. However, her life truly changed in 2018 when she joined OYE’s scholarship program (Organización para la Juventud y el Emprendimiento).
“OYE’s support was a great opportunity,” Jennifer proudly shares. “Being able to attend university and having my community see me as a university student positively impacted me. Access to higher education is rare where I come from.”
This year, Jennifer celebrated her graduation as a clinical laboratory technician. Her achievement is a personal triumph and an inspiration for other young women facing similar challenges.
Jennifer’s story is a testament to perseverance and a powerful reminder of how access to opportunities can transform lives.
