Partner: Voces Vitales, Panama
In October, the University of Santa María La Antigua and Voces Vitales de Panamá unveiled the results of the “Study on the Effectiveness of the Las Claras Program,” a psychosocial and academic intervention supporting teenage mothers at the Fundación Voces Vitales in Panama Province during 2023-2024.
This emotional event celebrated the program’s achievements and reaffirmed Voces Vitales’ commitment to implementing evidence-based, academically validated initiatives.
The study revealed remarkable outcomes:
- Improved Psychological Well-Being: Participants experienced significant reductions in anxiety and depressive symptoms, enhancing their emotional health.
- Notable Cognitive Advancements: Improvements were observed in verbal learning, long-term visual and verbal memory, mental processing speed, working memory, abstract reasoning, and sustained and alternating attention.
- Increased Academic Performance: Many participants achieved better academic outcomes, enabling them to complete high school.
- Personal and Social Development: Growth was evident in areas such as openness, problem-solving, empathy, emotional balance, independence, flexibility, reflection, sociability, frustration tolerance, and the ability to form attachments. Additionally, reductions in aggression and social desirability were noted.
This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter for Voces Vitales de Panamá, solidifying their commitment to creating meaningful impacts in the lives of young women through scientifically backed programs and academic collaboration.
